Protocol

Last updated: April 14, 2026

TLDR

  • Discuss in good faith.
  • Keep it safe-for-work.
  • No harmful or deceptive links.
  • No illegal content, harassment, threats, or doxxing.
  • No spam, manipulation, or impersonation.
  • Break the rules and we may take action.

This Protocol sits alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The Terms are the legally binding framework; this Protocol is the rulebook we apply to content and conduct. If the two conflict, the Terms control. We may update this Protocol; continuing to use the Service after the "Last updated" date means you accept the update.

This Protocol applies to everything you do here โ€” profiles, posts, links, reports, and extensions. We may act immediately where safety, law, or harm prevention requires it, and give notice and a chance to respond where the law says we must.

What great contribution looks like

Discussite is for real discussions. The posts that make it worth visiting tend to:

  • Add context, not just opinions.
  • Disagree well โ€” challenge the idea, not the person. Changing your mind in public is a strength.
  • Ask real questions and acknowledge good points, even from people you disagree with.
  • Welcome newcomers. Everyone was new once.

None of this is enforced โ€” it's celebrated. What follows is.

Safety & legality

No illegal content or activity โ€” including child exploitation, terrorism, trafficking, or incitement to violence. No credible threats. No sale of illegal goods. Where there's imminent risk or a legal duty, we act first and explain after.

Respect

Be respectful. No targeted insults, slurs, dogpiling, or unwanted sexual comments. No attacks based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender, sexuality, or similar characteristics. "Just joking" isn't a defence.

Privacy

Don't post someone else's private information โ€” addresses, phone numbers, IDs, financial details, credentials, or intimate images. This includes screenshots and links to pages that expose it.

Honesty

No impersonation, fake affiliations, or forged screenshots. No phishing, malware, or scam links โ€” we judge the destination, not the title. Satire is fine when it's clearly satire.

Spam & manipulation

No low-value repetition, mass self-promotion, duplicate posts, or artificial engagement. No sockpuppets, fake accounts, or brigading. Don't probe or evade rate limits, security, or moderation. Evading prior enforcement โ€” including with new accounts โ€” is itself a violation.

Content standards

No pornography, explicit sexual content, or gratuitously graphic material โ€” including via misleading titles or redirect chains. No piracy, leaked private data, or hacked material. Context and intent matter: discussing a hard subject is not glorifying it.

Enforcement

We act on reports, automated signals, and our own review. We weigh context โ€” severity, intent, repetition, history โ€” and treat workarounds (misspellings, coded language, throwaway accounts) as violations. Depending on the case we may warn, remove content, limit your account, suspend, or terminate. For serious violations we may preserve evidence and notify authorities.

Appeals

Think we got it wrong? Email hello@discussite.com. We'll take another look, with human review for serious account actions. Repetitive or bad-faith appeals may be declined.

Help shape this protocol

These rules belong to the community as much as to us. Suggestions โ€” hello@discussite.com. We read every one.
